Betty A. Biebel, who in more recent years went by "Bebe," passed away at the age of 68 the morning of June 20, 2014, in Castle Rock, CO. She was at home, surrounded by family and loved ones. Betty is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Robert J. Biebel, "Bobby," of 47 years. They fell in love over 50 years ago on a dance floor in Michigan and made their first home in Toledo, OH until 1978. Prior to moving to Castle Rock in 2010 to be closer to grandchildren, Bobby and Bebe lived near Scottsdale, AZ, for 32 years where they built many memories as a family and enjoyed the gift of friendship with some wonderful people there.
She was a loving mother to 3 girls: Ashley Biebel-Webster (Dan); Adrienne Graves (Jason), and Dana Biebel-Feeney (Thomas); a praying Grandmother to: Robert, Ben, Cassie, Emily, Ryan, Annie, Abraham, Christian, and Samuel; and a one of a kind sister to Diane Vogeli. Bebe is preceded in death by her parents, Louis F. and Dorothy J. Vogeli, and her grandson, Noah Steven Graves.
Betty graduated from Bedford High School in Temperance, MI, where she was a friend and cheerleader to her classmates. She also studied Art and Psychology at Miami University (OH) and The University of Toledo in Ohio and was part of a bevy of girls called the "Chi Omega's."
Bebe had the gift of hospitality. This was displayed in her selfless love for others, whether family, friends, neighbors, or strangers. She never considered her "possessions" or time her own, but shared generously with anyone in need. Betty was a praying woman, enjoying the company of many women over the years who would gather regularly to pray for their families and communities. She loved God and His Word above all else and this enabled her to keep her heart and priorities in place when things of this world might be naturally overwhelming.
Ten years ago Bebe gave the name "Bevy" to a group of young mom's who met regularly to encourage one another and serve their local community. Today Bevy, (a word more widely used in the 1950's to describe a group of quail or girls), is now a 501©3 non-profit organization with a mission to build bridges between women, celebrating our uniqueness, and serving others for God's purposes in the earth. A spiritual mentor, Bible teacher, confidant, and friend to many, Bebe's legacy carries ripple effects of which we aren't even aware.
Services in her honor will be held at The Rock church in Castle Rock, CO, on Tuesday, July 8th at 6:30 in the evening. Childcare will be provided. We will also celebrate her life and legacy in Scottsdale, AZ, at Scottsdale Worship Center in the fall. Dates and service times to follow.
Betty loved ministries that reflect God's Kingdom here on earth. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bebe's honor may be given to Youth With A Mission (YWAM), an organization she and Bobby prayed for often whose ministry is to tangibly make God's love known among the nations.
When asked what her "Bucket List" might be, she did not mention an international trip or a fancy dinner, but rather said, "I want to preach! I still have time to share God's love with people and they need to know..." During the last month of her life we filmed several videos that may be found on YouTube under the channel, "Bedside with Bebe." The words from her final video are a challenge and encouragement to all who will listen. May they make their way to the forefront of your heart as you live each day with grace and purpose, "Keep asking Him what you are supposed to do, and then be found doing it."
