Barry Patrick Roark, 56, died November 22, 2022, with his closest friend by his side at a beautiful home in Englewood CO.
Barry was born in Pueblo, CO., on January 23, 1966. His formative years were spent in Canon City, CO, before attending Western Colorado University (nee Western State College) in Gunnison, CO. There, he majored in Communication, getting his start in radio at the campus radio station, KWSB. After college, he continued radio at KCMU in Seattle where he lived for several years before moving to New York City, then Dublin for a spell, and eventually back to Seattle. Music followed and drove his life.
Barry had a gourmand's ear for lyric and style; one that he translated into his radio show at KGNU, where he deejayed at upon his return to Colorado in 2007 until his death from cancer in 2022. He painted, he acted, he played mandolin: he was a creative spirit who followed the beat of his own drum to the end.
Barry was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Kay, and his sister, Kelli Roark. He is survived by his father, James Roark (Canon City, CO); and brothers Jeff, Keith, and Michael Roark: as well as a chosen family of "brothers" who were with him until the end.
A celebration of life was held in Englewood CO along with all of Barry’s creative paintings and poems, attended by many of Barry’s closest friends and Family.
