Barbee Lee Bruce, 62, passed away peacefully with family at her side on October 5, 2017 after a nine plus year battle with Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD).
A celebration of life is scheduled for 2-5pm on October 15th at The Millhouse at Philip S Miller Park, 1381 W. Plum Creek Pkwy, Castle Rock, CO 80109. All are welcome.
Barbee was born in Denver, Colorado on April 11, 1955. She graduated from George Washington High School and later from Colorado State University with a BS degree in Microbiology.
She married Perrie B. Bruce on January 3, 1981; they were married 36 years.
Barbee's last occupation was first grade teacher at God's FingerPrints and Hope Christian Academy, a position she held for several years before the onset of the disease. She loved daily exercising, tennis, hiking, shopping, home decorating, gardening, traveling, being with family and friends. FTD gradually took her loves away. Motorcycling (as a passenger) became her love in earlier stages of the disease. She was able to enjoy the weddings of her first two children and the birth of her first grandchild before the disease worsened.
Barbee is survived by her husband, Perrie; father, Robert Lunde; sister, Sheryl Fleck; daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Michael Tolibas; son, Jordan and his wife, Jenna; daughter, Jaclyn and her husband, Jim Schurk; and grandchildren, Declan and Colbie Tolibas and Jade Bruce.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration or the Alzheimer's Association.
