Avery Compton Jr

Avery Compton Jr. (75) of Nashville, TN passed away peacefully on January 11, 2021. He is preceded in death by his mother and father Dorothy and Avery Compton Sr. and his infant son Michael. He is survived by, in his own words, the "best friend, best cook and best wife" of almost 54 years, Pamela, two children Deborah Standley and Mark Compton, son in law Gary Standley, two beloved grandchildren, Emma and Margaret, his brother Tommy (Pat), and many other friends and family members. Avery grew up in Nashville and attended East Nashville High School. After graduation, he served in the United States Air Force. He married his high school sweetheart. He worked as a plant manager at John Deal Printing Company for many years. He was a faithful member of Trinity Lane Church of Christ. He loved to sing, he never met a stranger, and he enjoyed helping others in any way he could. One of his favorite things to do over the years was to spread the magic of Christmas to many children and adults as well. He was loved by many and will be missed.A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
