Armin Thebus, Jr.

July 17, 1928 — April 6, 2012

Armin P. "Pete" Thebus, Jr. passed away on April 6, 2012 amid the love and caring of family and friends. Pete was born in Denver, CO on July 17, 1928 and attended school at Stedman, Smiley Jr. High and East H.S. He was the oldest of the three children born to Armin P. Thebus, Sr. and his wife Dorothy Andrews Thebus.
In 1946 along with many of his friends, Pete joined the Navy, leaving behind his bride, Peggy Lou Simpson Thebus. They were blessed with two children. After leaving the service, Pete attended college on the GI Bill. He soon entered his lifetime career with Green Bros. Fruit and Produce Co. He also joined Rotary early in his working career and was a lifetime member, never missing a meeting in over 55 years. He was the man at the door each week greeting members as they came in and had the rare gift for remembering names. These past couple of months when he couldn't' get to the meetings, Rotary came to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by his sister Katherine T. Frank Betts and brother Fred A. Katie Thebus. Also by his two children Paul Melvia Thebus and Penny Leonard Walker; his three grand-daughters – Nancy Todd McCall, Tracy Norman Roberts and Nicole Brian Roberts; and his six great-grandchildren – Peter and Kyle McCall, Norman and Ashley Roberts, and Kiana and Denaea Roberts.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the South Suburban Christian Church, located at 7275 South Broadway in Littleton. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Denver Rotary Club – Denver Kids Inc.
