Anthony Kelley

Anthony Kelley, 66 died Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at home after a lengthy illness. In hospice care for three weeks prior to his death, Anthony died peacefully in his sleep. 


He leaves his wife, Sheryl Harmon Kelley, daughters Brittany and Kourtney Kelley, and son Anthony DePaul Kelley; three grandchildren who are missing him very deeply; Brothers Larry Tyler, Stanley Kelley, and Michael Kelley; Nieces, nephews and a host of cousins and friends. 


He was preceded in death by his parents John and Lillie Kelley Smith, as well as his brother Kenneth Wayne Kelley. 


Born in Houston Texas, Lillie and the boys moved to California when Anthony was a young boy. He attended elementary and high school in Los Angeles, California. He met his future wife while they both attended college and worked for Famous Amos Cookies in Hollywood. Anthony and Sheryl began their family in Los Angeles, but after several years moved to Texas after a downturn in the cookie industry. 


In Texas, Anthony worked in the newspaper industry for a short while before adding a baby girl and a new career in the education field to his life accomplishments. He worked for and retired from the School Plant Services/ Energy Mgmt. divisions of Midland Independent School District in May of 2016 after 23 years of service. 


After Sheryl’s retirement in 2018 the family followed Kourtney to Colorado where she was attending university in Boulder, and the family remains. 


Long known for his positive outlook and sense of humor Anthony was cheerful and fun-loving to the end. 


A private “celebration of life” was held at his home in Castle Rock, Colorado for immediate family members, with California and Texas celebrations to follow.
