Anne Holgate Shores, 94, of Englewood, CO, and long time resident of West Chester, PA, died on December 30, 2013. Born in Philadelphia, she moved to West Chester in 1950 with her husband, Ronald B. Shores, now deceased. She belonged to Saint Agnes church and was an active member of the community, especially the Women's Auxiliary of Chester County Hospital. She helped with the Marshall Square fair events, the annual dance, the snack shop, Meals on Wheels, etc., for decades. A well known cook, she had an active social life and many friends, most of whom predeceased her. Having grown up during the depression, she used her seamstress skills extensively, doing needlepoint, upholstering chairs, making curtains, clothes for her kids, etc. Later in life she and her husband spent much of their time in artistic pursuits, taking oil, drawing, and water coloring classes and traveling around the Eastern seaboard painting pictures. She and her husband instilled a lifelong love of books and reading in their children and were famous for their huge library. She is survived by her son, Ronald B. Shores, of Greenwood Village, Colorado, and her daughter, Elizabeth Anne Shores, of Whitefish, Montana. She leaves behind a granddaughter, Lisa Nichols, of Whitefish, Montana, and her beloved youngest sister, Mary Manton, of Ardsley, Pennsylvania, as well as a number of nieces and nephews, spread all across the US.
