Anne B. Grant of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed into her eternal sleep with family at her side in the late evening of December 7, 2018, at age 84. She was born Margaret Anne Burton on February 25, 1934, to parents Paul Elmore Burton, Sr., and Maggie Isola Burton (nee Smith).
She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers Paul E. Burton, Jr. and Larry J. Burton; as well as two of her former husbands, Robert P. Grant, and J. Donald Smith.
She is survived by her children Steven E. Roehl (Beverly Roehl, Niceville, FL), Karen L. Roehl (Rebecca Wells, Locust Grove, GA), Julie A. McIntosh (nee Roehl, Greenville, SC), and Jeanne C. Grant (Timothy Wright, Millersville, TN); grandchildren Daniel E. Roehl, Peter B. Roehl, Brandon M. McIntosh, Jessica M. Wright, Joseph R. Wright, Jeremy E. Wright; and her great grandson Jayce B. Wright; as well as her former husband William E. Roehl, Jr.
As a young woman, Anne was very fond of the beach, bowling, golfing, and playing card games.
In her middle years she kept busy working her own business in vinyl repair, and later, as a bookkeeper.
In her elder years she enjoyed the challenge of working puzzles with her friends at the Christian Manor Apartments for senior living where she resided for more than fourteen years. She especially looked forward to bingo and dominoes with her friends, among whom she was well loved. She was prolific in the composition of personalized greeting cards for her friends and her family. She was not shy to voice her opinions of the politics and news of the day.
A special thank you to the staff at Avalon Hospice, through whom Anne received care in the final days of her life.
Anne's wishes for her final resting place were to be cremated, and for her ashes to be dispersed by her family amongst places that she named that were significant in her life.
