Anita Riedel

July 16, 1927 — December 13, 2015

Anita Natalie Riedel, beloved mother, grandmother & great grandmother, aged 88, passed away in her home, December 13, 2015. She is survived by her daughters Leslie Fincher and Judy Myers, 8 grandkids and 11 great-grandkids. Her husband and son, John and Michael, preceded her in death. Anita's smile, strength of character and compassion for others will be missed.

Anita was born July 16, 1927, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the tender age of 2, she moved to Denver by train with her parents and 4 siblings, trying to escape the Depression after her father had lost his restaurant. She graduated from North High School in 1945 and attended the University of Denver. In 1947, she married her high school sweetheart at Holy Family Church and began raising a family.

Anita started working at a young age: concessions at Lakeside Amusement Park at age 12 and as a telephone operator for AT&T while still in high school. She eventually retired from the phone company to care for her husband of 38 years, with ALS. She enjoyed dancing, golfing and actively participating in many organizations, including the CWA and the Retired Firefighters Association of Denver.

Please join us in celebration of her life on Thursday, January 14th, 10:30-11:30, at Notre Dame Church, 2190 S. Sheridan Blvd., in Denver.
