Angel had his own special way of looking at situations and solutions, for example - during the 1970s when the famous gas crisis occurred throughout the country including in Puerto Rico, Jr decided he was going to get rid of his vehicle, an old "spitfire" and go for something more economical, maybe not what his mother was expecting him to pull up with, but in walked Jr into her kitchen with a HORSE! Yes, a horse. Jr traded his car in for a horse! As his shocked mother looked at Jr, he explained how the horse did not need gas, and would be better. Needless to say mamita (what we called our mother), in her very stern and decisive manner, let Jr know that the horse was not staying and to go get his vehicle back!
We cannot overlook the accident that took place in Jr's life. When he was in his early 20s he was in a horrible car accident in Puerto Rico. He was with his fiance Chicki as they called her. The accident was horrific, and Chicki departed at that time and was laid to rest before Jr came out of his coma weeks later. This brought Jr a sadness that never went away. He missed her and spoke of her throughout his life, and was forever devastated by this event. It is now that we can feel some peace knowing that he can now rejoin with his love, and lose the sadness that followed him throughout the rest of his days.
Jr has given us so many things to laugh about, and also a few things to cry about, but one thing that you could always say about Jr was that he would do anything for anyone. He had a heart of gold.
We will miss his phone calls wishing us well on our special days, checking in on us, and bringing us to tears with his amazing and crazy stories.
Angel, Jr, Papa, Papi, Hijo, Hermano, Tio, Mi Cunado especial, however we may have called you, may your journey be amazing, and be at peace along your way as you continue toward the light, with love from us all. We will always remember your smile, and your love and laughter as you taught a lot of us to cherish each day. Go with our love, forgiveness and peace. May God bless you and enjoy your journey! We all love you.
