Alton Lee Hall Jr. passed in Centennial, CO at the age of 74 on July 7th 2022. After a lengthy battle with respiratory disease, he passed peacefully in the presence of family.
Lee was born on September 22, 1947, in Columbus, OH to Alton and Mary Jo Hall. Lee attended North High School in Columbus and was known as a talented dancer. Girls would line up at every school event to get the chance to hit the floor with Lee.
After graduation Lee joined the Air Force in 1966 serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. He served as a “tunnel rat” and was sent into the underground caverns dug by the Vietcong. He also spent time stationed in Germany working with top secret information behind locked doors. He often reminisced about his time in Germany carousing with friends in the officer’s club and exploring the local night life. Lee was awarded a purple heart to recognize his great sacrifices.
After returning home, Lee earned a two-year degree in computer science. He spent the bulk of his career working as a computer programmer in the early years before computers were household staples. In his retirement Lee worked in a home improvement store in the paint department. He never left for work without a pocket full of dog treats to give out to the dogs or “kids” as he would say, that came into the store to shop with their owners.
Lee was welcomed to the other side by his Parents Alton and Mary Jo, his nephew Weston, as well as his grand-dogs Sam, Kia, Viola, and his grand-cat Mister. Lee will be greatly missed by his sister Barb and her husband Bill; Daughter Shannon, who dedicated herself to his care and ensured his health and happiness, and her partner Bob; his son Sean and his wife Holly; His niece Mandy and her husband Torry and his great grandnephew TJ.
While no services will be held, we ask in lieu of flowers you gather your loved ones for a BBQ, share a slice of German chocolate cake and have an evening of laughs and love in his memory.
