Ald Hurd

June 10, 1957 — August 20, 2019

Don passed away with dignity in his home, surrounded by his family, on August 20, 2019; after a four-year battle with GIST sarcoma, a type of treatable but non-curable cancer. He fought hard until the very end, but ran out of treatment options. He made the brave choice to stop all treatment and enter into home hospice care where his family lovingly cared for him alongside the hospice team.

Don was a Denver native, a graduate of Metropolitan State College, and worked in the energy business with electrical power generation being his passion. In 1995, Don and Lesley were married and began raising their family in Denver.

In 1999, Don started and continued to run a very successful consulting business alongside two partners and several loyal employees. He served as the President and CEO of E3 Consulting for over 10 years. He retired early to devote his attention and energy to his health and his family. Don had many other careers and businesses over his lifetime, including solar energy, painting, and sporting goods.

Don is survived by his wife, Lesley; daughter, Erin; son, Kyle; father, Bob; mother, Dolores; and brother, Ron – all residing in the Denver Metro area; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Leslie Mullen, living in Tennessee. He also had two dogs he loved very much, Tino and Nesta, with Nesta being his favorite and, "his angel", according to Don.

He had many friends during his lifetime and enjoyed a love for golf, skiing, traveling, and Grand Prix racing, along with watching many episodes of Criminal Minds and spending many hours in his hot tub.

His sense of humor and ability to create a nickname for everyone and everything, along with his great conversations and sometimes heated debates, will be missed dearly by his family and friends!

Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday September 6, 2019.
