76 Years of Life
Al enjoyed retirement in Colorado after 50 years of marriage with his wife, Virginia (Ginny Proske) Garreau, children, Amy Tampa and Sara Purves, grandchildren Owen, Megan and Collin of Colorado and Keith of Illinois. Family was his greatest joy in life. He connected with them and his friends through nature, fishing, walking on Colorado trails, noticing raindrops on leaves and sitting on his deck observing the birds and squirrels at many filled feeders. He will be greatly missed by all of his surviving family and friends. Our hearts are empty at his death but filled with love from his life. A private celebration of his life was offered at Nativity Church in Broomfield on October 13. A memorial mass will be celebrated on May 22, 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Good Council Church, 620 Fifth St., Aurora, Illinois where he lived most of his life. If you are interested in a donation, consider planting a tree somewhere to replenish Colorado’s forests that are burning this year in memory of Al.
